Was reading all about this last night.
Imane Khelif won her boxing match in just 46 seconds after her opponent Carini quit due to an injured nose.
The controversy is around Khelif having supposedly failed a gender eligibility test in the past. The disqualification was due to reportedly high levels of testosterone in her system, yet did not disclose the methodology of their testing. The boxing association that made this ruling has since been banned from organising the Olympic tournament by the way for concerns over governance and judging scandals.
This woman is not trans, or intersex. There are rare cases where a XY chromosome may appear in women, and while she has not disclosed the nature of this, she is a cis woman.
She passed the eligibility to compete in the Olympics, yet so many people online are jumping to conclusions, calling her a man, claiming she is trans, damning her participation because they read one headline putting her gender into question.
I swear people online just LOVE to ****.
What are your guys' thoughts?
...it's kind of funny that it comes down to that... Like "You can't do this, because you have this thing in your system" or "You're levels are not perfect" --- What ever happened to just being the best no matter what?
